Lip Lift
in Buenos Aires

The Lip Lift shortens the distance between the base of the nose and the border of the upper lip in a lasting way: more pink mucosa, a defined Cupid's bow and volume without fillers. The indication and the scope are defined at an individual assessment consultation.

Results vary by patient and cannot be guaranteed. The indication and scope of any procedure are defined only after an individual medical assessment.

Timings are indicative. Every recovery is individual and is adjusted at each check-up.

It all starts with a consultation

At the consultation we measure the philtrum-to-vermilion distance, assess the nose-to-lip proportion and the perioral area, and define whether the Lip Lift is what applies in your case.

Every surgery begins with a personalised assessment consultation.

The surgery

It does not fill the lip.
It lifts it.

The Lip Lift — also known as upper lip lift, subnasal lip lift or bull-horn lip lift — shortens the distance between the base of the nose and the vermilion border of the upper lip. By removing a strip of skin in that area, the upper lip everts: it turns outward, exposing more pink mucosa and restoring the volume and definition lost with ageing.

It changes the proportion between the nose and the lip in a lasting way, without the overfilled appearance often associated with excessive filler.

The difference

Filling and lifting
are not the same thing

Hyaluronic acid
  • Fills from the inside
  • Lasts 6 to 12 months
  • Requires repeat sessions
  • Does not change the geometry of the lip
  • Excess can look overfilled
Lip Lift Surgery
  • Lifts from the outside
  • The skin that is removed does not regenerate
  • Once
  • Shortens the nose-to-lip distance
  • More visible mucosa, not more injected volume

The lip looks fuller because more pink mucosa is visible, not because it is swollen, and the Cupid's bow regains definition.

Is it for you?

Age does not define it.
The proportion of the philtrum does.

The Lip Lift is indicated both in the context of facial rejuvenation and for aesthetic improvement in younger patients. At the consultation we assess the philtrum anatomy and the nose-to-lip proportion with frontal and profile photos.

Signs that surgery helps

  • A long philtrumThe upper lip «disappears» when speaking or smiling
  • A thin lipWith a flat vermilion border
  • A blurred Cupid's bowLoss of central definition
  • Downturned cornersThe outer ends of the lip pointing down

When it is usually indicated

  • From the age of 25–30With a proportionally long philtrum
  • Without repeat fillersFor those who would rather not keep reapplying
  • Alongside a Deep Plane FaceliftThe perioral area a facelift does not address
  • With photographic assessmentFrontal and profile, at the consultation

At the consultation I measure the philtrum and tell you whether the Lip Lift applies in your case — or whether it does not yet.

The procedure

Bull-horn:
the incision follows the edge of the nose.

The standard technique is the bull-horn incision: a curvilinear incision at the base of the nose, following the contour of the columella and the nasal alae with precision.

That specific shape hides the scar at the natural boundary where the skin of the nose meets the upper lip — an anatomical area where scars mature almost invisibly. It begins with the measurement of the philtrum-to-vermilion distance and the photographic analysis, which define the amount of skin to resect. Scar location and healing vary by technique and patient; they are discussed during the assessment and the follow-up.

Recovery

One of the most manageable
in facial surgery.

The operated area is small and the procedure is short, which means limited swelling.

01
Days 1 to 3 Localised swelling in the upper lip and lower nasal area — completely expected.
02
Days 4 to 7 Swelling subsides visibly.
03
Days 7 to 10 · suture removal The key moment: without stitches the scar settles into its definitive position and begins to mature.
04
From week 2 Back to normal life, with sun protection over the philtrum.

Timings are indicative: recovery and discharge are defined at each check-up. Results vary by patient and cannot be guaranteed.

Results

Long-lasting,
and without an «operated» look.

The philtrum skin that is removed does not regenerate, so the shortening of the nose-to-lip distance and the eversion of the upper lip are maintained over time, while natural ageing continues.

The aim is always a result that integrates naturally with each patient's own features.

Medical tourism

Seven days
and back home.

The practice is at Av. Santa Fe 3192, in Palermo/Recoleta: a safe, walkable neighbourhood, with Parque Las Heras a few blocks away for the first walks, Subte Line D five minutes away, 24-hour pharmacies and varied dining for the post-operative period.

The recommended minimum stay is 7 days for a standalone Lip Lift, and 15 days when it is combined with a Deep Plane Facelift.

Medical criterion

Nothing is decided
from a screen.

The indication, scope and planning of any procedure are defined only after an individual medical assessment.

Send your photos on WhatsApp and, subject to availability, I will reply with a preliminary assessment for your case. The fee is defined at the assessment consultation.

◆ My approach

Dra. Jenny Ortega
De La Rosa

Specialist in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery

I am a plastic surgeon with a practice focused on facial rejuvenation. My practice covers the whole spectrum of the face: from the Deep Plane Facelift and facial surgery (necklift, temporal lift, blepharoplasty, lip lift, rhinoplasty) to non-surgical treatments (hyaluronic acid, thread lifts, PRP and other injectables).

My criterion: a facelift is not a surgery about age, it is a surgery about laxity. That is why my first job is not to operate, but to assess honestly who is a candidate today — and who is not yet. Titular Member of the SCPBA — Buenos Aires Plastic Surgery Society · M.N. 146.616

Frequently asked

What people ask
before deciding.

Lip Lift recovery takes 7 to 10 days for the initial swelling to largely resolve. Sutures are removed between days 7 and 10. Most patients can resume their usual activities — including office work and social outings — in approximately a week and a half. The definitive result, with the scar fully matured and all swelling gone, is appreciated at six to eight weeks. It is a remarkably short recovery for the long-lasting results it produces.

Scar location and healing vary by technique and patient; they are discussed during assessment and follow-up.

A Lip Lift may be combined with other facial procedures when indicated. Suitability, scope, risks and recovery are assessed individually.

Lip Lift results are long-lasting. The philtrum skin that is removed does not regenerate: the shortening of the nose-to-lip distance and the eversion of the upper lip are maintained over time, while natural aging continues. Unlike hyaluronic acid — which lasts 6 to 12 months and must be repeated — the Lip Lift is a one-time surgical solution. Natural aging continues with time, but the philtrum does not return to growing at the same rate, and the improved starting point is durably maintained.
