It all starts with a consultation
At the consultation we assess your neck, review the profile photographs and I explain which approach is the most appropriate for your anatomy.
Every surgery begins with a personalised assessment consultation. The surgery
The angle between chin and neck
is what shows the age in profile.
The Necklift — also called neck lift or cervicoplasty — corrects platysma muscle laxity, removes excess submandibular and submental fat, resects excess skin and restores the cervicomental angle: one of the visible markers of youth in the profile of the face.
Its characteristic signs are the platysmal bands — vertical cords that do not disappear with non-surgical treatments or with exercise — and the loss of that angle, which creates the appearance of a «double» or «sagging» neck. The Necklift can address these factors when there is a clinical indication; the technique and the scope are defined for each patient.
Is it for you?
It is not a surgery about age.
It is a surgery about laxity.
The Necklift is indicated for people with neck changes that affect their appearance and cannot be resolved with non-surgical treatments. Each case is assessed individually at the consultation.
Signs that surgery helps
- Visible platysmal bandsVertical cords that do not yield to exercise
- Excess cervical skinThe so-called «turkey neck»
- Loss of the cervicomental angleThe appearance of a «double» or «sagging» neck
- Persistent fatSubmental or submandibular
Conditions for surgery
- Good general healthNo contraindications for general anaesthesia
- Profile assessmentThe cervicomental angle is measured at the consultation
- A 15-day stayFor patients from abroad, until suture removal
- Realistic expectationsA natural neck, never artificially tight
At the consultation I assess your neck and tell you which approach applies — or whether none applies yet.
The procedure
Three planes.
The middle one is what holds.
The Necklift requires working on several anatomical planes: the skin, the subplatysmal fat and the platysma muscle. Through a submental incision and retroauricular accesses, the submental and submandibular fat is treated and the platysmaplasty is performed — the central step: the borders of the platysma are released and sutured in the midline, correcting the visible bands.
Without that muscular step the result deteriorates quickly, because the cause has not been treated. Once muscle and fat are corrected, the excess skin is resected and closed without excessive tension. Sutures are removed around day 15. Scar location and healing vary by technique and patient; they are discussed during the assessment and follow-up.
Recovery
The 15-day protocol
in Buenos Aires.
Recovery is more intense when the Necklift is combined with the Deep Plane Facelift. For patients from abroad we recommend a 15-day stay.
Timings are indicative: recovery and discharge are defined at each check-up. Results vary by patient and cannot be guaranteed.
Results
The change shows
above all in the profile.
The restored cervicomental angle redefines the silhouette of the neck, and that is where the difference is most apparent.
Thanks to the platysmaplasty the results are long-lasting, with a duration that varies from patient to patient: the muscular correction and the removal of fat produce real anatomical changes, and the improved starting point is maintained for years even as natural ageing continues.
The aim is always a coherent, natural result — never an artificially tight neck.

The indication, scope and planning of any procedure are defined only after an individual medical assessment.
Send your photos on WhatsApp and, subject to availability, I will reply with a preliminary assessment for your case. The fee is defined at the assessment consultation.
Post-operative care
We don’t leave you alone
after surgery
The result of plastic surgery does not end in the operating room. Dr. Jenny De La Rosa accompanies her patients almost every day for the first 15 days after surgery.
Wound care, scar monitoring, assessment of progress and an immediate answer to any question. All of it to support good healing and to minimise risks, adjusting the check-ups to how each patient is healing.
Timings are indicative: recovery and discharge are defined at each check-up. Results vary by patient and cannot be guaranteed.
Dra. Jenny Ortega
De La Rosa
Specialist in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery
I am a plastic surgeon with a practice focused on facial rejuvenation. My practice covers the whole spectrum of the face: from the Deep Plane Facelift and facial surgery (necklift, temporal lift, blepharoplasty, lip lift, rhinoplasty) to non-surgical treatments (hyaluronic acid, thread lifts, PRP and other injectables).
My criterion: a facelift is not a surgery about age, it is a surgery about laxity. That is why my first job is not to operate, but to assess honestly who is a candidate today — and who is not yet. Titular Member of the SCPBA — Buenos Aires Plastic Surgery Society · M.N. 146.616
Frequently asked
What people ask
before deciding.
Dr. Jenny Ortega De La Rosa is a plastic surgeon dedicated to facial rejuvenation in Buenos Aires. She covers the full facial spectrum: from the Deep Plane Facelift and facial surgery (neck lift, temporal lift, blepharoplasty, lip lift, rhinoplasty) to non-surgical facial treatments (botulinum toxin, hyaluronic acid, thread lifts, PRP). Member of the SCPBA · M.N. 146.616.
The Necklift recovery takes 10 to 14 days to be socially presentable. Full recovery, with residual swelling resolved and return to physical activity, is reached at 3–4 weeks. For international patients we recommend a minimum stay of 15 days in Buenos Aires: daily wound care at the clinic, 10 manual lymphatic drainage sessions and suture removal on day 15, allowing you to return home with the initial recovery complete and no sutures remaining.
A necklift may be combined with other facial procedures when indicated. Suitability, scope, risks and recovery are assessed individually.
Scar location and healing vary by technique and patient; they are discussed during assessment and follow-up.
Necklift results are long-lasting, with a duration that varies from patient to patient. The platysmaplasty (platysma muscle correction) and submental fat removal produce real anatomical changes: the resected fat does not regenerate, while natural aging continues. The improved starting point and the restored cervicomentonial angle are maintained for many years. Unlike energy-based treatments or threads, surgical Necklift produces results that do not require maintenance or retreatment in the short or medium term.
